The First Semiconductor Bulk Material That Emits Direct White Light

JingLiSemiCondMatA unique type of inorganic-organic hybrid semiconductor bulk materials are capable of emitting direct white light. Their photoluminescence properties can be tuned precisely and systematically by modifying structures and composition. They could be used as single-material light emitting source in high efficiency white-light emitting diodes (Wooseok Ki, Jing LiJ. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130, ASAP)

The JACS publication is available as well as the highlight in Nature.

Be sure to look at the June 16, 2008 news item titled Jing Li's white LED featured in the latest issue of C & E News!
