    COURSE OR SECTION IS FULL

    Chem 171/211/248/251/309/310/311

We cannot give special permission numbers for lab courses. Please continue to check online for changes. State fire laws (for your safety) cap the enrollment of these courses. It is possible that there is some flexibility in 309 or 310. Email Prof. Taylor for those courses only.

Upper level lab courses (348, 329)

Contact the coordinator of these courses to find out if there is room.

    Chem 161SG

162: Enrollment in the fall version of 162 is limited to seniors.

161: Solid Gems - please contact Jenice Sabb @ 848-932-3738 to request special permission.

160/162/162SG: We will not give any special permission numbers in General Chemistry II until the first day of classes. Students who fail prerequisites will be removed from this class, creating openings.

    Chem 307/308/315/316

We will not give any special permission numbers in Organic Chemistry 308/316. If seats are available the stop point will be raised. Students who fail prerequisites will be removed from this class, creating openings. Until we know how many seats we have, we are unable to give special permission. If you wish to make an appointment to talk to someone after that date, click here.

    MISSING PREREQUISITE

    • Confirm that you have the prerequisites. To review the prerequisites for each course, click here.
    • If you took the prerequisite at another school, make sure you contact the transfer office (SEBS @ 732-932-3000 ext. 512 or SAS @ 732-445-2050) to have the credit and equivalence transferred. Then, use Degree Navigator to check that the credits have indeed been transferred. You MUST have completed the course with a grade of C or better BEFORE you can register. If you have already done this, come to Wright Chemistry Labs room 143 on the appropriate day/time or email to make an appointment or to provide information about your circumstances. If you haven't visited the Transfer office, do so first.
    • If you took the course at Rutgers (Newark or Camden), but the system is still indicating that prerequisites are missing, come to room 143 in Wright Chemistry Labs at the appropriate day/time, to provide information about your circumstances. Note that most courses taken at Rutgers-Camden or Rutgers-Newark are accepted as equivalent to SAS courses, but may not be recognized for course registration. In these cases, you need a prerequisite override, and should visit Wright Chemistry Labs room 143 at the appropriate day/time.
    • If you are currently taking the prerequisite at Rutgers, email to provide information about your circumstances. In some cases, you may have to wait until you have a passing grade in the course before we will permit you to enroll. If you are taking the prerequisite at another school, you MUST have completed the course with a grade of C or better BEFORE you can register.
    • Math and Physics Prerequisites: Note that certain Math and Physics courses do fulfill the Math and/or Physics prerequisite requirements for Chemistry courses, but are not always recognized for the purposes of course registration. If you believe that this may be the problem, go to Wright Chemistry Labs room 143 at the appropriate day/time.

SECTION OPEN, BUT WON'T ALLOW ME TO REGISTER

    • Because some courses of study have very restrictive schedules, we reserve some seats forstudents in these schools. For example; if the section says "open only to school xx" and or "By Permission-Department Staff", then you will be unable to register for that restricted section. Once students from these schools have had an opportunity to register, the school restrictions will be removed and ANY ELIGIBLE student will be permitted to register. It is up to the student to continue to check online for changes.
    • Some courses are restricted for specific majors. If you haven't yet declared your major, the computer won't permit you to register for these courses. If you have declared your major, but it hasn’t yet been processed, come in on the appointed day/time or email to make an appointment or to provide information about your circumstances. If you have declared for a different major than the one(s) listed for the course you want, contact the coordinator of the course.
    • If webreg still won't let you register, double check that 1) it is your day to register and 2) you have fulfilled all the prerequisites. If you meet all the requirements, come in on the appointed day/time or email to make an appointment or to provide information about your circumstances.
    • If is possible that the section you want may already be closed. The color code (red or green) is updated only once per day.
