The North American Calorimetry Conference (CALCON) has served as the premier collegial forum for the dissemination of current research and state-of-the-art technological developments in calorimetry and thermodynamics since its inception in 1946. CALCON convenes annually at selected sites in the United States or Canada, and jointly with the IUPAC sponsored International Conference on Chemical Thermodynamics whenever ICCT meets in North America. CALCON participants represent a broad cross-section of scientists in academia, government, and industry whose research interests primarily focus on the development and application of calorimetric methods and/or thermochemical techniques. Papers presented at CALCON span a diverse range of disciplines within the fields of biology, chemistry, and physics as well as emerging areas of research at the interface of core disciplines. Specific areas of interest include fundamental advances and applications in biology and medicine, biothermodynamics, biomaterials, environmental sciences, pharmaceutical products, food technology, solutions and fluid mixtures, condensed matter, nanoparticles, polymer science, solid-state materials, computer simulations, and thermodynamic databases. CALCON welcomes original research contributions describing novel and innovative thermodynamic approaches at the interface of core technologies.
Fifth Joint Meeting of The Calorimetry Conference and International Conference on Chemical Thermodynamics
The Seventy Third Calorimetry Conference follows in the footsteps of last year's memorable gathering on the idyllic grounds of Glen Eyrie Castle and Conference Center nestled within the magnificent Rocky Mountain range in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Continuing our Eighth Decade of Service to the International Scientific Community, the Organizing Committee welcomes your company as we join forces with The Twenty Fifth International Conference on Chemical Thermodynamics to convene CALCON·ICCT 2018. This year's conference marks the Fifth Joint Meeting of CALCON and ICCT following in the tradition of Snowbird, Utah (1992); Halifax, Nova Scotia (2000); Boulder, Colorado (2006); and Buzios, Brazil (2012). We cordially invite you to join us at Granlibakken Resort on the shores of Lake Tahoe within the majestic Sierra Nevada for a memorable Joint Meeting of our respective societies.
Amidst the panoramic splendor and tranquil solitude of Lake Tahoe's natural landscape, our conferees will enjoy a diverse Scientific Program comprised of twelve symposia focused on the following relevant and timely topics:
- Biomolecular Folding, Function, and Stability
- Macromolecular Association and Recognition
- Biopharmaceutical Applications and Drug Discovery
- Thermodynamics of Colloids, Surfactants, and Interfaces
- Thermal Physics of Condensed Matter and Materials
- Microfluidics, Nanotechnology, and New Techniques
- Phase Equilibria and Transitions
- Liquid Solutions and Fluid Mixtures
- Thermodynamic Properties of Ionic Liquids
- Energy Materials and Sources
- Databases, Global Analysis, Modeling, and Simulations
- Advances in Chemical Thermodynamics Education
Conference participants are invited to submit original research papers presenting novel calorimetric and thermodynamic studies for platform or poster presentation. Please reserve the dates of 05 - 10 August 2018 and join us for the Fifth Joint Meeting of CALCON and ICCT in Lake Tahoe, California.
