We are the flagship Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology in the State of New Jersey. Our faculty and students work at the frontiers of science, at the intersection of chemistry and other disciplines, where new discoveries, and new industries emerge.
Our extensive suite of state-of-the-art research facilities allows our faculty and students to explore the most interesting and challenging questions in the many broad fields touched by chemistry.
Our academic programs, especially our full and part time master's degree programs, are particularly attractive to students currently employed, or looking to become employed, in the extensive chemical, pharmaceutical, and materials industries within our region. In addition to offering a broad range of course and program opportunities, we also encourage our undergraduate students to perform research during their time at Rutgers. This experience provides a superb foundation for jobs in industry, as well as for advanced study.
In addition to educational opportunities, New Jersey remains uniquely positioned with job opportunities for skilled chemists. Both large and small chemical companies headquarter themselves in New Jersey, and chemistry exports account for over a quarter of the value of the state's yearly exports.
